ThinkPad is undoubtedly a resounding name in the minds of the majority of PC users, although it has launched many very abstract products in its long history. Many still see him as a leading business laptop company.
The T series is one of ThinkPad's most classic product lines. The T2x series was unveiled in 2000 as a sequel to the legendary series ThinkPad 600, and has been launched to the 17th generation in 2022, including T14 Gen3, T16 Gen1, T14s Gen3 three series. According to the lying flat strategy that ThinkPad has generally implemented in recent years in the low-end product line, this generation of products does not have any eye-catching improvements, but the original T15 conforms to the trend of the industry and is further expanded into the new T16 model, which can be regarded as an increase in the amount without increasing the price. Overall, the current generation of the T series is a "routine upgrade" of the previous generation, which is also rubbed by the consumer-grade ultrabooks with great innovation in recent years, and is also in the same way as his enterprise-level competitors.
Alas wait a minute, isn't the title P16s? Was the author stunned by ThinkPad? How can this be wrong?
No, no, no, there's no mistake, you don't know about ThinkPad and make a judgment. In fact, friends who are familiar with ThinkPad, especially products after 2015, should understand why I pulled the T series out to criticize it first. Since its birth, the ThinkPad's P series has always had a tradition of replacing the T series model with nVidia Professional Kara as a strong man, and the ThinkPad P16s Gen1 we reviewed this time happens to be one of them... Well, not at all coincidentally.
Therefore, this machine has become a rare new model in the two lifeless product lines of T and Ps in recent years. New name, new size, new beginning, this is an old new product.

First of all, the model we tested
this time is the ThinkPad P16s Gen1 (21BTC1O1WW), made in China.
Before unpacking, let's take a look at some of its parameters:

As an ultrabook born in 2022, the configuration of this machine on paper is still relatively good-looking. And with little difference in weight from the previous model (P15s Gen2), the machine is equipped with a new screen with a 16-inch, 16:10 ratio, and achieves a huge increase in battery capacity (57Wh for P15s Gen2).
By the way, the machine can be selected to a high-resolution screen of 2560*1600 resolution, or a high-brightness touch screen of 1920*1200 resolution. Downwards, you can choose a beggar's screen with 45% NTSC color gamut. The specific screen configuration is as in the official documentation: but there are two points that still need to be criticized:

First, as a mobile workstation, the machine is not equipped with an SD card reader, and even cancels the TF card reader equipped with the previous generation model. Secondly, as a mobile workstation, it is not equipped with more than two hard disk sockets. In fact, for many years, as a sister model of the T series, the expandability of the PS series model has not been at the level that mobile workstations should have.
So, after a little talk on paper, let's get a glimpse of this computer in real life.

Packaging accessories: efficient, reliable, convenient
As a commercial grade
product, this machine naturally does not do any fancy design on the packaging, and the primary color cartons and neatly arranged logos have shown a capable image.

When did ThinkPad start using this style of outer box? I don't have any impressions, but I have to say that this crooked big think is really boring, and there is a sense of liveliness that does not look like a commercial-grade product.

On the back of the package is the lithium battery air logo, seal and China energy efficiency logo. The energy efficiency label shows that the typical energy consumption of the machine is 38.6kWh and the product type is Class B. The mechanism to unlock the top cover also needs to be pulled out on this side.

On the left side of the box is the machine body, which is wrapped in cushioned foam. On the right is a paper tray where you can't see what's inside.

Remove all contents. It can be seen that the amount of cushioning foam wrapped in the machine is sufficient, and the design is much more elegant than that of consumer-grade products. The surface of the machine is also wrapped in a plastic bag and sealed by a red sticker.

Check the contents of the tray. Power adapter only.

The adapter adopts USB-C interface to connect the body, and the three-pin plug is connected to the power supply, with a nominal power of 135W. In other words, this ugly "black brick" has eaten the latest PD3.1 standard. Compared with the previous Ultrabook adapter, which is only about 65W, the almost double power should greatly improve the energy replenishment experience of this machine.

Package contents: family portrait.
