The Surface Duo is Microsoft's foray into a folding-screen phone, and it has a dizzying design and a lot of cool elements, but the original Duo is, frankly, a mess. It lacks the things of a modern smartphone, such as a proper camera, 5G, wireless charging, NFC, and the latest processors. To make matters worse, the software is vulnerable and frustrating to use, crashes frequently, does not respond well to touch, and has limited compatibility in third-party applications due to its unique dual-screen feature.
Fortunately, the 2nd generation Duo solved all the obvious problems encountered by the original generation, including the camera, screen, support for 5G, support for the Surface Pen, and software tuning at the system level. Surface Duo 2 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chips, supports 5G networks, 8GB of memory, and has a battery capacity of 4449mAh. The rear camera is raised and features a main camera, ultra-wide angle and a 2x telephoto lens. The specs behind these lenses look solid on paper. For example, the main camera is a 12-megapixel dual-pixel PDAF sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1.4μm unit pixel.
